A Year of Dating
Winner of the 2021 QPAS Queer Playwriting Award and the 2019 Mudfest Emerging Artist award for her debut play Coming Out, Lucy Holz returns with a show about looking for love and not finding it – again and again.
Revealing what it’s like to date as a queer woman in an online world, A Year of Dating is a funny, daring and honest exploration of modern dating culture. This comedy follows Holly through a series of terrible and hilarious dates and makes us wonder, why do we keep putting ourselves through this?
Ready for a relationship and on a mission to find the one, Holly knows she needs to start putting herself out there. She’s going on one date per month for a year. Twelve dates... That should be enough to meet her soulmate, right?
Between the hilarity and juicy details she feeds her best friend Hannah, Holly begins to question her own motives – maybe dating is only fun if you’re doing it for the right reasons? Rejecting the idea that women need a relationship to be successful, A Year of Dating explores poignant themes of resilience, LGBTQ+ allyship and female empowerment.
Directed by award-winner Lyall Brooks (Become The One), this show is guaranteed to be a riotous night out with your friends... or perhaps the perfect first date.
