Come on down to Fringe Common Rooms at Trades Hall this February to hear what's been making some LGBTIQA+ artists, writers and activists laugh, cry or sigh this year.
Featuring:
Gemma Cafarella (she/her) is a Victorian barrister and co-host of the radio shows Queer View Mirror and Transdemic.
Paul Kidd (he/him) is an activist and advocate who has been living with HIV for more than 30 years. He is a passionate advocate for the rights of people with HIV and was instrumental in the successful campaign to repeal Victoria’s HIV criminal statute, section 19A.
Maddox Gifford (he/they) is a student, an activist, a writer, an editor—and a chronic jaywalker, having picked up the habit while growing up in NSW on Worimi and Awabakal lands. Maddox can often be spotted roaming the streets of Naarm: despairing at the leisurely walking speeds of nearby non-queers, reclining in places not meant for access, and experiencing existential crises in bookstores.
Chloe Lewis (she/her) is a queer Kiwi working in the strange world of Aged Care. After regular trips to the dog park with her Kelpie, shopping at the supermarket, and returning to society after becoming a veteran in Covid outbreak Infection Control, there’s pa-lenty to get off the ol’ chest.
Dr Yves Rees (they/them) is a writer and historian living on unceded Wurundjeri land. At present, Yves is a Lecturer in History at La Trobe University and the co-host of history podcast Archive Fever. Their memoir All About Yves: Notes from a Transition was published by Allen & Unwin in 2021.
Ricki Spencer (they/them) has over 20 years’ experience working in welfare provision and education. Ricki identifies as a transgender non-binary person with lived experiences of disability. They are passionate about local planning issues in relation to access to health and services for marginalized groups in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
