Objects play a huge role in moulding and holding our daily lives and identities. In this workshop devised by the SIGNAL Curators, artist Kenny Pittock will impart the sculpting skills to re-create sentimental objects from your memories. Learn the essentials of hand-building with air-dry clay, and explore how feelings imprint on perceptions of treasured objects.
This workshop is part of the Becoming Us series exploring identity within the LGBTIQA+ youth community, inspired by the Immigration Museum’s new exhibition Becoming You: An Incomplete Guide and its celebration of coming-of-age stories.
Kenny Pittock is an artist who works with ceramics, painting and drawing. Kenny's work uses humour and sentimentality to playfully celebrate the everyday. Kenny received an Honours Fine Arts Degree in painting from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2013, since then he has had solo exhibitions in Italy and Singapore, as well as consistently exhibited his work all over Australia with galleries including ACCA in Melbourne, PICA in Perth, Artspace in Sydney and MONA in Tasmania. His work is represented in many collections including Artbank, the City of Melbourne Town Hall Collection, the University of Queensland Gallery Collection, the Deakin University Collection and the Monash University Museum Of Art Collection.
